Who we are
Blend is an ear-training service operated by Alexander McGourty, 60 Wharf Drive, Apt. 1512, Brooklyn, NY 11222, USA (“we”, “us”). By using Blend you agree to these terms. If you do not, please do not use it.
Your account
You can play the first stage without an account. Beyond that you need one, so that your progress can be saved against it. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for what happens under your account. Accounts are for one person; please do not share them.
Free and paid
Blend has a free tier and a paid plan.
- Free gives you the first three stages of the journey, and one scored run each day.
- Pro opens every stage and removes the limit on practice runs. Current prices are shown on the pricing page.
Pro is a recurring subscription. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time — access continues until the end of the period you have paid for. Where a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel first.
Payments and refunds
On the web, payments are handled by Stripe through Clerk. We do not see or store your card details. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that may apply where you live.
In the app, you subscribe through the App Store, and Apple takes the payment. You manage and cancel an App Store subscription in your iPhone's Settings. Refunds for App Store purchases are requested from Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple decides them under its own rules.
Refunds on the web. You can cancel at any time from your account and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund the current month of a monthly plan. We refund a yearly plan in full if you ask within 14 days of the first charge. If a free trial converts and you did not mean it to, write to us within 14 days of that charge and we will refund it. Consumers in the UK and EU also have the statutory right to cancel within 14 days of purchase.
Fair use of the leaderboard
The daily run is limited to one submission per person per day, so that the board is comparable. Runs are graded on your own device, in the browser or in the app, and submitted to us. We check the result for arithmetic plausibility. Deliberately submitting a score you did not sing, or automating play to game the board, is a breach of these terms, and we may remove entries or close accounts that do it.
Your name on the board comes from your account. A name that is offensive, or that looks like an email address or a link, is not shown; the board shows “Singer” and a number instead. Anyone signed in can report an entry, and an entry reported by several people comes off the board. There is no place on Blend for abusive or offensive content, and we remove it and may close the accounts behind it.
What belongs to whom
The lessons, the melody corpus, the software and the Blend name are ours or our licensors'. You get a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your own practice. Please do not copy, redistribute, or resell the course material.
The instrument sounds are samples from the Musyng Kite soundfont by Sarcyan, in Benjamin Gleitzman's MIDI.js conversion, used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license.
What we do not promise
Blend is provided as it is. We work to keep it available and correct, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we do not promise any particular musical outcome — it is a practice tool, not a teacher. Browsers and audio hardware vary; some devices handle live audio better than others.
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Ending it
You can stop using Blend and delete your account at any time, from the AccountAccount page on the web or the Account screen in the app, or by writing to hello@blendharmony.com. Deleting it removes your progress and your leaderboard entries straight away. If you pay for Pro, cancel the subscription first: deleting the account does not cancel a subscription made through the App Store, which Apple manages in your device's settings.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. If we close your account without cause, we will refund any unused part of a subscription bought on the web. Refunds for App Store purchases are Apple's to give, as described under Payments and refunds.
Changes, law and contact
If we change these terms materially we will say so on this page and update the date at the top; continuing to use Blend afterwards means you accept the change. These terms are governed by the law of the State of New York, USA, and disputes go to its courts. Questions go to hello@blendharmony.com.
